Hunter moon is situated in the idyllic setting at the foothills of the Broke Fordwich mountains and between some of the best vineyards in the Hunter. Perfect spot for group or family gatherings or bridal parties. Hunter Moon has a large 10-12 person outdoor spa in a very tranquil setting which can be set cold or hot depending on the time of the year. The perfect escape at any time of the year. Set on 25 acres only minutes to great restaurants and wedding venues such as Margans, Nightingales, Adams Peak and the town of Broke. Sit on our decks and take in the views of vineyards and the kangaroos. Or stroll down and fish or paddle in the Wollombi Creek meandering around the bottom of the property. We can take 10-15 people depending on your needs. Sit by the roaring fire or relax in the Spa on those cold starry nights. Chill out in central air conditioning on a hot day and take in the view down to the brook and out to the vineyards.

Around a two hour journey from Sydney and 90 minutes from Newcastle the Broke Fordwich area is in the southwest corner of the mid Hunter Valley. Sitting between Pokolbin and Wollombi, Broke played a critical role in the development and history of NSW.

Next door to boutique vineyards and near the olive farms of Broke , 15-20 minutes to the heart or Pokolbin for the best wine tasting and restaurants in NSW and for the golf enthusiasts, two of the best and most challenging golf courses in Australia (the Vintage and Cypress Lakes). Near great Wedding Venues.

Broke Village stands at the base of the Brokenback and Hunter Ranges on the Wollombi Brook. The massive Yellow Rock escarpment stands guard above. The Ranges shelter Broke Fordwich from much of the rainfall that surrounding districts receive. The area has a sandy loam with river flat alluvial soil, volcanic soil and pockets of red basalt giving wine producers a variety of soil types known as terra rossa.   The area was sacred to the aboriginal community and the Baime Cave is not far from Hunter Moon for something different.

Today Broke Fordwich is still making history. In 1994 it was the first area formally recognised as a separate viticulture. Whilst historically, it is one of the oldest wine growing areas in Australia, it is only in the last 30 years that Broke Fordwich has started to become an important player in the Australian industry.

Today, more than a quarter of the Hunters wine grape production now comes from the area and Broke Fordwich wines are winning more than their fair share of national and international awards.

Importantly, Broke Fordwich retains its integrity as a rural community remaining free of large scale development yet offering first class B&B and self catering accommodation, restaurants and activities. Visitors to the area are surprised by the amount of wildlife they see

Beautiful house!

We stayed here for a concert at the Hope estate. Colette was able to give us a contact so that transport between the house and the concert was super easy. Everything was lovely and we felt so well accomodated for. There was plenty of space and the scenery was beautiful and relaxing.

Wonderful House

Carren Jan 2017 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cicada Country House, the house was spacious and comfortable easily catering to small or large groups. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and having a moonlit spa. Colette and Mike thought of all the extra touches like turning on the air conditioning prior to arrival and having a bottle of bubbly chilled as a welcome gift. The property was in a great location being so close to all the major wineries yet far enough to be able to have peace and quiet looking out over the rural property. We will definitely come back. Thanks again Carren and friends.

Fantastic Place to Stay

We stayed at the house for a 70th birthday girls weekend with ages from 30's - 70's. OMG it was perfect the house and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay you only need to take your self and you food and wine, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need , the beds were very comfy, the house is very well set out with enough room for everyone, the garden is beautiful and we arrived to fresh cut roses in each room. Would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway , we booked a wine tour that picked us up at the house and dropped us back. Will definitely be back to stay

Fantastic House

Aug 2016 by Michael at Cicada

The house was very well presented when we arrived - the heating was on and Foxtel music was playing on the large screen TV. The large open fireplace was also set up which we used throughout our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped and the dining areas both indoor and out are very large! Hot tub was also perfectly located! It was the perfect spot for a weekend away with friends.

Absolutely Amazing

July 2016 by Lauren at Hunter Moon

A group of us recently went for a weekend away to The Hunter Valley and stayed at the Hunter Moon Country House. Colette the owner had arranged a package where we received 2 nights accommodation, a private chef (Mottys Cuisine) that made us a home cooked BBQ dinner on the Friday night and a 3 course home cooked meal on the Saturday night and a wine tour for the 8 of us on the Saturday. We had the most amazing time. The house was stunning, the bedrooms were a fantastic size and the facilities were great. The chef (Melissa) and the food was absolutely fabulous and the wine tour company was very friendly and accommodating to the wineries that we wanted to go to. We would defiantly recommend this place to anyone heading to The Hunter for a weekend away. 5 stars all the way.

Would go back in a heartbeat

 April 2016 by Adrian

First up, I would like to say that the photos provided above do not to this lush property enough justice. Not only is the property a beauty in itself but the location is by far one of the most picturesque I have ever seen. Over the Anzac Day long weekend a big group of us hired both the Hunter Moon & Cicada properties for some well deserved down time and what a down time it was - whether you're looking to spend the entire weekend in a spa, sitting in front of the TV playing Xbox, reading a book in the green, relaxing in a top-shelf massage chair or just having a great time with mates, this place has it all. In addition, if you're keen to go check out a few wineries, both these properties are located in the heart of it all, whilst still feeling so far away from reality. I would go back to both Hunter Moon & Cicada in a heart beat.

Just stunning!

What a beautiful home. Everything was perfect! Roses were picked from the garden and put throughout the house ready for arrival, The gardens are beautiful, the huge sunflowers and stunning roses were a highlight. We loved having a spa under the stars and the house is perfect for large groups. All your entertaining needs are taken care of. Overall everything was fantastic. The attention to detail from Colette made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you we will be back (we hope annually!).

Everything taken care of

Left on Jan 1, 2016 for a stay in Dec 2015 For Cicada Country House

We stayed here for a couple of nights to attend a friend's wedding. there were 4 couples (room for another couple and an extra single person also!) From the moment we walked into the place, we knew that everything had been taken care of and our stay was going to be very comfortable. Indeed it was! Little things, like needing a safety pin, looking in the bottom draw in the kitchen and bingo! The massage chair was a big hit with all of us (especially the ladies!) and whilst we ended up not using the spa, it did look very inviting. Excellent place to stay, very clean and comfortable.
